About Us

We’re an all-year-round, good-time neighborhood bar—a new version of an old idea. We're the local spot where you always feel comfortable, your “secret” that you tell all your friends to visit when they’re in town, the place you go to see your neighbors, make new friends, and enjoy a damn fine time from folks who take their bites and sips seriously, but not themselves. We offer craft cocktails, local beer, a thoughtful wine selection, and a kitchen pumping out delicious comfort food.

Gussie was the definition of neighborly, which has inspired much of what we do. Taking pride in our community, contributing where we can, and being kind to everyone are core values for us. Gussie was a great grandfather and respected businessman who loved to lend an ear or tell a story. We like to think he’d belly up to the bar at Gussie’s for a cold pint, a delicious plate of food to share with friends, or a cocktail to unwind any day of the week… And his jokes were always juuuust dirty enough.

  • There is street parking available on West Morgan Street, as well as nearby on Hillsborough and Tryon Hill (see just how close here!). There is also a pay lot across the street. Lot behind Gussie’s is for RESIDENTS ONLY

  • We operate on a first come first served basis – and we can’t wait to meet you!

  • They sure are! We do identify as a bar, but the little ones are more than welcome. We have a couple of “kids” offerings like a smaller burger and a cheese quesadilla – but kids have also been known to love Joanne’s Meatballs.

  • We adore pets of all kinds and they are welcome to enjoy our patio. Only registered service animals may come inside.

  • We do! We have picnic tables outside that seat up to about 6 people each. All are first come first served.

  • There are two TVs (no sound) at Gussie’s and they are visible from the bar area. We play big games, local teams, movies, and cartoons.

  • There is Wifi for guest use during the day when The Left Hook Coffee is in operation (except for brunch on Sundays). Once the bar opens for service, guest Wifi is not available.

  • We sure do! There is beer and wine available for purchase in the bottle shop to take with you. Lots of fun selections – they can also be opened and enjoyed here at Gussie’s for a small fee.

  • Currently we only offer take out for pick up – but stay tuned! One of those delivery services is going to be ready to bring Gussie’s to your doorstep in the near future.
